2015 NFL Mock Draft - PH

I need to start this post by saying I am in no way trying to have the most accurate or correct mock draft. I do not have inside information and do not have any team sources. What I have done is watched over 100 players worth of tape as well as watched their performances live on Saturday. With that I will put myself into each GM’s shoes and go with whom I would feel the most comfortable in drafting. This is a good exercise not only for me to check back and see how the league views a certain player differently than me, but also I will have this information to look back on in the next couple of years to see how the players I was highest on have turned out. For the readers it is a good look into what I see as the biggest holes or the strongest needs for your certain team, as well as to spot players who may have value by slipping down boards, or who is over drafted. With that being said lets get to it.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers- QB Jameis Winston Floirda State University

The talk all offseason has been Winston vs Mariota. I believe both have their positives and both certainly have their negatives, but as a full QB in a vacuum give me Winston. I hate people saying “system QBs can’t adapt” but I have seen Jameis make reads, change plays and run a professional system. I also like Winstons’ deep accuracy a little greater and while many question his personality and background, from a distance I see a leader. He is a guy who thinks he can make every throw and that doesn’t turn me away from him as I have watched him make some really strong throws. The biggest key to winning in the NFL is to find your franchise QB and with the #1 pick the Buccaneers are in a place where they need to find one today. I believe that guy is Winston.

  • Tennessee Titans- QB Marcus Mariota Oregon

While I give the slight edge to Winston I can see Mariota being a franchise guy. He has nice intermediate accuracy and his system forces him to make quick decisions in which he has excelled. As the GM of the Titans I do not personally believe he fits into what my head coach Ken Whisenhunt typically looks for in his style of QB. That being said I am drafting the potential franchise QB as an asset. Whether this pick is traded pre draft, or Mariota is traded on draft day I see it as the longer I hold out, the bigger the haul I receive for him. The Titans have a variety of needs so to add a plethora of draft picks, or even a franchise QB who does fit his system (Phil Rivers) excites me more than a QB whom my head coach may not be sold on. It is too tough to pass on the guy who can get you that haul and even if the Titans aren’t picking here I don’t see Mariota getting passed pick #2.

  • Jacksonville Jaguars- DE/OLB Vic Beasley Clemson

The Jaguars start their rebuild with the best pass rusher in the class. With Quarterback being the most valuable position in my eyes, the position of putting the QB on the ground is one of the next most valuable. Head coach Gus Bradley has done well building his defensive front and the line looks strong, but they need a pure pass rusher. Bradley was in Seattle when the Seahawks took OLB Bruce Irvin in the first round and to me Beasley is a supped up version of the WVU product. I think Beasleys’ strength and ability to play a few different techniques plays right into Bradleys’ hand and gives them a strong rotation at DE and gives them the personnel to run multiple defensive sets like a 3-4. Many question Beasleys’ ability to stop the run, but the Jags can ease him into run protection, start him off as a gunner and eventually transform him into an every snap player. I personally love this pick given who my head coach is and while it isn’t the most sure thing I am smiling as I make it.

  • Oakland Raiders- DT Leonard Williams USC

It is tough to pass up on adding a playmaker for my young QB but I am going with the safest player in the draft. In a draft that almost top to bottom has question marks to get the sure thing at pick four should be a no brainer. Many have compared Williams to JJ Watt and while I wouldn’t quite go that far he is a force that should immediately come in and start and be the biggest problem on the Oakland D line, starting day 1. He mentioned he wants to be a 4-3 DT in the NFL and that would be where he slots in, and where the Raiders currently have Stacy Mcgee slotted to start. The kid can learn the ins and outs of the NFL defensive line playing beside a vet in Justin Tuck, and now the Raiders have two pieces, between Khalil Mack and Williams that you can actually see where the Raiders are going for the first time in about ten years. I can hardly see any scenario where Williams is on the board at 4 and the Raiders pass on him, then again it is the Raiders.

  • Washington OLB Dante Fowler Florida

While the talk all year has been RG3 and what the Washington football franchise will do with him everyone is overlooking that the defense wasn’t winning them anything either. Ranking 27th in efficiency and 32nd against the pass according to Footballoutsiders.com one could argue that that was the unit that brought the down the ship. Brian Orakpo had been injured throughout his time in Washington and now that his rookie contract has expired he has moved on to Tennessee. In steps Dante Fowler. Fowler, in a few ways reminds me of Orakpo. His strength and pure qualities are what makes him such a strong candidate to be a great NFL player. Fowler isn’t the pure pass rusher that Vic Beasley is but I think he can handle the run better, and he is stronger on tape than Beasley. I see the two as 1A and 1B when comparing edge rushers and I think Washington would be fortunate to take either one. Pairing a healthy Fowler opposite Ryan Kerrigan gives the defense at least two potential game changers to fear on every play, and I think the easiest way to rebuild a defense is to get the guys who put the QB on the ground. Fowler will do just that and should be taken here at 5.

  • New York Jets- WR Amari Cooper Alabama

I think Cooper can be put into the conversation with Leonard Williams when it comes to discussing the safest picks in the NFL draft. When it comes to watching WRs, I am sucker for footwork and what Cooper does with his feet reminds me of some of the better WRs in the NFL already. Add that to the pure speed of a home run threat, and the ability to jump and get balls where does he go wrong? He is your perfect possession receiver and we should see him in the NFL for a long time. Everyone is quick to write off Geno Smith but if I am the Jets I stay patient and let a playmaker fall to me that may help the kid progress. Going from a situation where it is Eric Decker or bust to a group that includes Decker, Brandon Marshall and Amari Cooper to go with second year TE Jace Amaro all of the sudden the Jets are set at the skill player positions. Now you can go into the year knowing that if Smith fails it is all on him and worst case the next QB should have a group that he can win with immediately.

  • Chicago Bears- DT Danny Shelton Washington

Many see this as a perfect time for the Bears to replace their star WR Brandon Marshall with Kevin White but I just see too many holes to go down that road. Alshon Jeffrey can be their number 1 guy, and I think it is a good time to give Marquess Wilson a chance to be a possession receiver. Add Eddie Royal to play the slot and I don’t see it as the biggest need yet. While the offense isn’t in the worst spot the defense is awful. Ranking 32nd in efficiency, 29th against the pass and 21st against the run according to footballoutsiders can speak to where this team needs to go with this pick. They had cleaned out the front office in Chicago and now the defensive coordinator is Vic Fangio. Fangio is a 3-4 guy and the Bears will have to transfer over from the 4-3 in which they primarily played last season. One thing I know from watching a Dick LeBeau 3-4 defense my whole life is that the most underrated part is the Nose Tackle anchoring the group. In Danny Shelton I see that pure 3-4 NT that is just going to be a task to move around for offensive lineman. Will Sutton is the current starter at NT, but he has spent most of his football time as a 4-3 DT and I wouldn’t expect the transition to be easy. Outside of Sutton the position is bare and to add an impact player at that position is just a must for Chicago in my eyes.

  • Atlanta Falcons- Bud Dupree OLB Kentucky

The Falcons experimented as a 3-4 defense last year, and it went just terribly and that caused the Falcons to have a 31st ranked defense. In comes head coach Dan Quinn, and defensive coordinator Rich Smith and both have been brought up as primary 4-3 guys. This suits the Falcons personnel already but in no way does it just solve all the problems. Bud Dupree to me does put a band-aid on some of the holes though. While many have projected him to be 3-4 OLB, he isn’t exactly the strongest pass rusher. However I do see him as a strong football player. His athleticism and strength are his best traits and to me he is a linebacker that can move around the entire field, cover players and especially stop the run. I think Dupree can translate to a SAM or WILL in a 4-3 and even at times can put his hand down and be a pass rushing DE. A defensive minded Quinn will absolutely love a guy that you can move around the field and I think when Dupree is on the field he will be a guy that the offense will need to find every play.

  • New York Giants- Kevin White WR West Virginia

This situation is similar to what the Bears will be seeing at pick 7. White is a luxury at this point and the Giants may have other needs, but at this point I am putting those aside to take the best player available. I would assume an O line candidate would make a strong case to go here but I see Odell Beckham Jr lining up opposite of Kevin White and I am just too excited to not do this. Victor Cruz suffered a terrible knee injury last season and the Giants are skeptical he will be fully healthy to start the season. If you watched Ruben Randle blow opportunity after opportunity to catch important red zone targets, and really just let the team down all season then you have to assume that there is little to no depth behind the stud rookie Beckham. I think if the Giants can add a potential OG in a later round, and with depth selections at D, I could also see the defense improve if the many key players on the unit can stay healthy this year. The team is pressed to win now with Eli Manning and I think White is the player who makes the biggest year one impact that they can take at this pick and it is just too hard to see them pass that up to reach for other positions.

  • St. Louis Rams- La’el Collins OT- LSU

I think that if the Giants go with an Offensive lineman this pick can easily be Kevin White. With White off the board I think they rely on the depth of Kenny Britt, Brian Quick, Tavon Austin and Steadman Bailey and now look for that offensive line support. Right tackle is the most pressing need on the Rams roster and Collins is the guy who translates best to that position. I think he is ready to start right away and between him and last years first round pick Greg Robinson both of the tackle positions may be addressed for years to come. Jeff Fisher will want to run the ball with Tre Mason and Zac Satcy and this is the perfect helper to solidify an offensive line that just two years ago had no direction, and now has a bright future.

  • Minnesota Vikings- Andrus Peat OT- Stanford

This goes somewhat against how I ranked my offensive lineman but I have to go with the fit over the player and take Andrus Peat for the Vikings. Of the top 3 it appears from what I have watched and read that Collins translates to a RT, Brandon Scherff translates more to a guard, and Andrus Peat stands alone as the only potential LT of the top 3 line prospects. While I don’t know as much about lineman versus other positions, one thing I do know is that Matt Kalil cannot start at LT anymore. He is slotted in to protect your potential franchise QB Teddy Bridgewaters’ blind side and he didn’t do that in anyway last season. It is a tough pill to swallow, as he was a top 5 pick just three years ago, but no one is saying he cannot translate to the right side and fair better. The Vikings would be staring down Bridgewaters’ former teammate Devante Parker, but protecting the QB is just too important and I really don’t think they can go much longer without a decent option at LT.

  • Cleveland Browns- Devante Parker WR Louisvulle

The Browns will be holding their breath while the Vikings are on the clock and then sprint up and take Parker the second Minnesota doesn’t. The Browns have a plethora of problems but lets get real here Dwayne Bowe and Brian Hartline have no upside and both are pale in comparison to what Parker brings. Parker has the intangibles of a possession WR but the upside of a deep playmaker. The defense is young and does have some potential at multiple positions, and they have the luxury of Joe Thomas anchoring the O-Line. For the Browns to spend this pick on a playmaker for whoever the is QB is the only sensible option to me. That being said I am sure the Browns will waste this pick on someone like Brett Hundley.

  • New Orleans Saints- Randy Gregory OLB Nebraksa

All offseason I had pass rushers, Beasley, Fowler, and Dupree ahead of Randy Gregory. While everyone questioned Beasleys’ size and ability to defend the run, I questioned why the same questions weren’t asked of Gregory. Now that word is out that he failed a drug test and is a habitual marijuana smoker it appears he is free falling down draft boards. I personally don’t talk to these players and I try my hardest to not let off field issues that I don’t know about affect my decision in these mocks. That all said Gregory is a fine pass rusher and the Saints have big holes on the defense. He has work to do to be a complete OLB in a 3-4 defense but he fits what the Saints want and need coming into the 2015 season. I think that if they talk to him and he passes whatever personality test they put him through that he would be a perfect fit football wise for what they need to improve their defense.

  • Miami Dolphins- Brandon Scherff OL- Iowa

Scherff is the most interesting piece in the first round and change the entire big picture of how it all unfolds. He is probably the safest offensive line prospect, but in the NFL he translates best to the guard position, which isn’t as pressing a need as the offensive tackle position is. Fortunately for Miami they have their tackle positions filled and are really looking for a guard anyways. They could go about 10 different ways with this pick, but I am taking the best player available filling a need in the mean time. He fits perfectly into the style of offense Bill Lazor wants to run and can start day one and significantly help what could be one of the stronger run protection groups in the NFL.

  • San Francisco 49ers- Marcus Peters CB- Washington

Like many teams at this point the 9ers could go many ways here. When I look at how I have the board breaking, I see that the top QBs, QB protectors, and QB attackers are now off the board, so how else do you slow down star QBs? Great defensive back play of course! Marcus Peters is to me the best CB in the class in terms of floor and ceiling. Again, I don’t want to get into the personal problem he apparently had after the coach he signed up to play for left him and a guy he apparently did not like was put in his place. His physical attitude towards defense is something a former defensive line coach Jim Tomsula would love in his secondary. I doubt Sharece Wright has a full grasp of the starting CB job and that adds need, as well as an opening to start week 1 for what I see is the best player remaining.

  • Houston Texans- Dorial Green-Beckham WR- Oklahoma/Missouri

Out goes Andre Johnson and in comes DGB. We will again look past the concern of his off the field record due to the fact that I do not personally know this guy but I do know his skills translate to the NFL. He hasn’t been able to give us tape in over a year now, which makes me skeptical that he would go this high, and I seriously considered Nelson Agholor here, but it was just too tough to pass up a 6’5” possession WR with red zone leaping ability. While Nuk Hopkins reminds me an Agholor type, DGB reminds me more of Andre Johnson and I think the two will compliment each other in a way that no other WR can at this pick.

  • San Diego Chargers- Todd Gurley RB Georgia

The Chargers may be able to land the most talented player in the draft at pick 17. The last time SD took a RB in round one it was Ryan Mathews and Chargers fans are probably screaming “NO NOT AGAIN” when thinking of going from the oft injured Mathews to the currently injured Gurley, but I remember Mathews at Fresno State and while I can’t say I saw the injuries coming I can say Gurley is a MUCH better prospect. While Mathews’ NFL injuries show him to be frail, Gurley is a freak that may get a freak injury doing unreal things. His size, speed, and vision give him an advantage over everyone and he has been medically cleared to begin practicing right after being drafted, which gives me less concern in taking a RB in round 1. If the Chargers are forced to live in a world without Phil Rivers next year, they at least can have someone to give the load to and I think Gurley is ready to handle that load.

  • Kansas City Chiefs- Landon Collins S- Alabama

The loss of Eric Berry is not only a tough reality check from the fun of the NFL, but it also presents a hole that needs filled. While the Chiefs front is an extremely impressive group, the back end has some work to do especially at both safety positions. In steps again one of the more sure things in the draft. Collins may not possess the upside of an All-Pro candidate but he is one of the surest tacklers and I see his floor being a starter for many years. He can read offenses and has a nose for the ball and adding that to the tackling ability he is just to safe to pass on when thinking that either him or Hussain Abdullah will be my starting free safety in 2015.

  • Cleveland Browns- TJ Clemmings OT- Pittsburgh

The Browns get their playmaker with the first pick and now can solidify the offensive line here. Clemmings is a bit more of a project than most of the players selected in the first round, but lets get real here the Browns are not competing this year. What they can get is a guy who can learn from one of the best in the business (Joe Thomas), and if he is ready he can start at RT, giving almost no holes in the offensive line. Joe Thomas has three years left on his contract and by the time the then 33 year old Thomas would be due for a new contract, I would be looking to give that money to my future LT that I had waiting in the wings for a few years now. It isn’t the sexiest pick but it sure sounds smart to me.

  • Philadelphia Eagles- Trae Waynes CB- Michigan State

Many experts may think it would be crazy to see Waynes around at 20 but I personally wouldn’t be shocked with how I see the board potentially breaking. The Eagles spent the offseason signing Walter Thurmond and Byron Maxwell to be the starting CBs and that may mean CB is not the most pressing need but at this point they are taking the best value on the board. Thurmond and Maxwell made their name by playing in Seattles’ “Legion of Boom” along side the best CB in the NFL the past two seasons. I don’t want to discount what they did but now both will be thrust into roles where they are the seeing more talented WRs, especially Maxwell. The Eagles also do not possess the same pass rush as Seattle, and while I am not writing either of the two off due to system, I think they both have plenty to prove before I assume the Eagles are set at CB. Limited depth behind them and at safety also leaves a strong concern for what the Eagles will throw out there in their Nickel and Dime sets and in come Waynes. Waynes can start in the slot but I have a sneaky suspicion that by the end of the season the Thurmond will be seeing more slot time as Waynes has deserved the chance to face more outside WRs. I don’t see a huge gap between him and Marucs Peters and the floor is higher on Waynes if you ask me. He’s too safe to pass up and the Eagles need defense and there is no chances he can get passed pick 20.

  • Cincinnati Bengals Shaq Thompson LB- Washington

People have been debating his position but in Shaq Thompson one thing is for sure is that you are drafting a football player. His size has given some pause as to whether he would be a small line backer or a big safety but when you’re drafting talent you just a find a way. These same questions caused guys like Kam Chancellor and Telvin Smith to fall all the way to round five, and Chancellor is a stud at safety and Smith had a great rookie year in which he earned full time starter status. There is a hole opposite of Vontaze Burfict and if can be filled with an athlete such as Thompson, the Bengals could see themselves having an extremely scary defense.

  • Pittsburgh Steelers- Kevin Johnson CB- Wake Forest

If this is how the board breaks the Steelers are running to the podium to submit their pick. If you look at the Steelers depth chart they have two major holes at OLB and CB. While the top tier pass rushers have been taken by pick 13, the top tier corners don’t even start to come off the board until pick 15. I put Johnson in that same tier as Peters and Waynes, and think he can be an NFL starter for years to come. He can spend his rookie time learning in the slot, while the Steelers learn what they have at CB for the future. The Steelers need to find out if Cortez Allen is a sufficient starter, and opposite of him William Gay is a free agent next season. What they see in Johnson will help determine how desperate they are to bring back Gay. While the Steelers haven’t drafted a CB since 1997, I think the time is now in a situation where you may get the head of the class at pick 22, and it may lead to another extended hiatus for the Steelers when it comes to the need for a top CB prospect.

  • Detroit Lions- Malcom Brown DT- Texas

This is becoming an extremely trendy pick, which probably means it isn’t going to happen. Oh well, if the board breaks this way how don’t the Lions take one of the top defensive tackles after losing two of them this off season. Haloti Ngata is a great acquisition to replace the stud in Ndamakong Suh, but Ngata is already 31 and he isn’t getting any younger. Also in a 4-3 the Lions will need a second DT and really don’t currently have one with any experience. With taking Brown, DT is still a small need for them which just gives more reason as to the must when it comes to taking him here, and who wouldn’t want their future at DT learning from an all time professional like Ngata?

  • Arizona Cardinals- Arik Armstead DL- Oregon

This is more of the Cardinals taking the best bet available than taking a pick for immediate need. The Cards had to spend their entire season without DE Darnell Dockett and eventually let him go as they still managed to make the playoffs without him. They added veterans Frostee Rucker and Cory Redding in his place, and the old “two is better than one” adage can be expressed especially when they saved money adding the two. Despite them having these two options opposite of star Calais Campbell, Rucker is 32, and Redding is 35 and neither was really effective last year. In steps Armstead who I view as a bit of a project and showed to be inconsistent on tape at times. However his upside is something that may put him as one of the ten best players from this class in a few years. To have him learn under Campbell and also get snaps as a rotational defensive lineman is a perfect transition in my eyes. I debated hard between taking him or an ILB which is a much more immediate need but overall I just see Bruce Arians loving his grittiness and I know there aren’t many times you can get a player in such a great situation as this is.

  • Carolina Panthers- DJ Humphries- OT Florida

This is by far the Panthers biggest need in my opinion. Cam Newton played through about five injuries last season, and while some were due to an off field car accident, the majority were from him getting rocked all season long. He runs for his life and get hits harder than almost any QB in the NFL. If you have watched Panthers games you have seen that grimace that almost looks like a smile as he gets picked up off the ground. Hopefully that will slow down and the Panthers can find at least one reasonable lineman in the draft here. Humphries faced some of the best pass rushers in college football playing in the SEC and besides the center position, I would guess he immediately becomes the most talented lineman on the roster. This is need, fit, and an immediate impact and if the Panthers don’t do this they are just risking their franchise even greater.

  • Baltimore Ravens- Devin Smith WR- Ohio State

When you lose Torrey Smith and replace him with Devin Smith are you really losing anything at all? Are you just getting a younger, cheaper Torrey with the same last name? Of course that is a bit of a jest due to the fact that Torrey is a proven NFL commodity but I really see Devin filling this same role, seeing little drop off. Devin needs to be more consistent in route running and develop a better overall game, but he is a perfect fit for Joe Flacco who loves to sling it deep. He has that deep ball speed that Torrey also possessed and may even have better ball skills when that deep ball is in the air. While Torrey was the man to get PI calls, Devin seems to be the guy that comes down with the ball in traffic. The fit is absolutely perfect, and with such a deep WR class there may be an idea to go for other needs here, but whom is Flacco throwing deep to this year? They need that threat to make the offense effective and Devin Smith is the guy to fill the Torrey void.

  • Dallas Cowboys- Shane Ray DE Missouri

Some may be surprised that Ray has fallen this far, and even I surprised myself a bit as I haven’t had an edge rusher go since pick 13. The Cowboys may be able to sit back and let the guy who is best fit to play DE in a 4- 3 fall to them at pick 27. Ray is a speedy pass rusher but needs to develop a better overall game. The off season signing of Greg Hardy can show to the Cowboys concerns in what they will get off of the edge this season. Hardy will be suspended for at least a couple of games and that gives Ray a great opportunity to start right away in the big D. He has a foot injury that has many concerned, and may also help him fall down to pick 27, but I think that while his ceiling isn’t Jared Allen, his floor is a rotational DE that can produce sacks and that is exactly what Dallas needs to help improve their defense this season.

  • Denver Broncos- Maxx Williams TE Minnesota

The goal this season in Denver is win a Super Bowl. There is no time to develop; no time to hope and they need impact performers today. Maxx Williams provides that for the Broncos. Not only is he a great pass catcher who can replace the lost Julius Thomas in that area, he is a MUCH better blocker than what Thomas had provided. The Broncos have questions at right tackle, but Williams can line up in the 11 personnel and chip block, to help whomever that RT may be. He can also help in the run game in a way that Thomas had no idea how. He isn’t the athlete that Thomas is but I really don’t see much of an immediate drop off when you add Williams, and lose Thomas. You keep Manning healthy, and give him another threat to catch passes and that just makes it too hard to pass on this kid.

  • Indianapolis Colts- Henry Anderson- DE/DT Stanford

This would be a pick in the hope that my defensive head coach, and defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano and Greg Manusky are willing to adapt to a more multiple defense. They typically play a 3-4, but they have no true nose tackle right now. They can go with Eddie Goldman who is more a pure NT here, but I just like Anderson’s strength and upside more. The signing of Trent Cole makes me think the Colts are willing to adapt due to that lack of NT. Cole would slot to be a 3-4 OLB but Chip Kelly and myself will tell you he is so ineffective off the line of scrimmage, and he fits so much better as a DE in a 4-3 system. Anderson could probably play a few snaps at the nose but I would rather but him in the 3-technique as a 4-3 DT. Arthur Jones, and Kendall Langford come in as good 3-4 DE candidates, but both can move in to play along side Anderson in the 4-3 and while Robert Mathis may struggle adjusting to a 4-3 Lber, I think the multiple idea gives him a chance to move around and put his hand down as a 4-3 DE at times as well. Langford at times can move outside too and the versatility that can be presented with just the addition of one pick is too nice to pass up in my opinion.

  • Green Bay Packers- Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA

Losing AJ Hawk isn’t the biggest loss, but it does open a spot at inside linebacker. Clay Matthews has been moved to the inside and basically plays the power run stopping MLB type. Kendricks can join him and let him stay around the line of scrimmage because he can fly over the field, and be the only linebacker on the Packers roster who can effectively guard tight ends. Kendrick’s isn’t the surest tackler but he does have a knack for the ball, and what a great situation to be in where you can learn from guys like Matthews and Julius Peppers. He is a great fit for a multiple set defense as they can now line their line backers up almost every where and still have a fast athletic type on the field.

  • New Orleans Saints- Eddie Goldman- NT Florida State

The two most important positions in a 3-4 defense: OLB and NT. If I get my OLB in Randy Gregory, which I did in this mock my next step is to add the nose tackle and call it a good day for the Saints. The offense wasn’t the problem that kept the Saints out of the playoffs, but defense almost single handedly did. They got ran all over, then loaded up to stop the run and got thrown all over. Brodrick Bunkley is well past his prime and did not have a good year last year, and if you can have a force in the middle of this defense it helps the defense in a major way. Goldman has some work to do but will definitely be able to see snaps, and has the upside to be a key starter in this defense for years to come.

  • New England Patriots- Nelson Agholor WR- USC

The rich get richer in what I see is a big way. Bill Belicheck has been miserable drafting WRs and his biggest hit was a former QB from Kent State. I can’t tell you how many times in recent years I have fallen for the WR from USC trap but here I am jumping all in again. He is perfect for Tom Brady due to his route running, and ability to be a possession WR who catches balls within five yards on the LOS and turns them up field. Rob Gronkowski provides the deep middle threat, and Agholor can combine with Edleman to be the intermediate stars of the system. In a high volume, short pass offense it is possible Agholor could catch 90 balls his rookie season and I wouldn’t blink an eye. He doesn’t have the freak athleticism or physical attributes to make him a star WR, but the ball skills he possess makes him a perfect fit for the Patriots system, which makes it reasonable that he will be here at 32, and I just cant let the Patriots pass up a golden opportunity.
